Elgene has a Bachelor of Science from University of Toronto and is currently working as a valuation service representative. He has been involved in clinical research at the University Health Network since 2013, initially participating in a cost effectiveness study and administering surveys to hemodialysis patients. He also participated in the Hemodialysis Infection Prevention with Polysporin Ointment with Shower Technique in Satellite Centres (HIPPO-SAT) Study and PISCES, which included satellite dialysis centres across south central Ontario. Elgene was also a team member of the McMaster Adherence to Reporting Standards team led by Dr. Lawrence Mbuagbaw. He hopes to continue to use his clinical research experience, particularly surveying patients, to actively participate in his role as Patient Liason.
